A special shoutout to Brody Bird for winning the MSHSAA Class 1 State Golf Individual Championship—an outstanding accomplishment! Big thanks to Head Coach Tanner Smith and Assistant Coach Chris Wever for their guidance and support throughout the season. Great job, fellas!



Gallatin High School Boys Golf Send-Off
Join us this Sunday, May 18, 2025, to give our Gallatin High School Boys Golf team a grand send-off.
• Departure Time: 8:00 AM
• Location: Gallatin Square, with the team circling the square before heading out of town.
Come out and cheer on our state qualifiers as they head to compete in the State Tournament in New Bloomfield. Let’s show them our support and wish them the best of luck.

Congratulations to Gallatin High School Principal Brent Burke!
On Tuesday, May 13, in a surprise ceremony attended by staff, students, and families at Gallatin High School, Principal Brent Burke was honored as one of only eight high school principals in the entire state of Missouri selected for regional recognition by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP).
Mr. Burke was recognized by MOASSP Board Member Lisa Craig of Stanberry High School and MOASSP President-Elect Andy McNeely of Lathrop Middle School for his outstanding leadership and commitment to connecting and supporting educators across the state.
As a regional honoree, Mr. Burke will advance to the next round of selection for Missouri State Principal of the Year. If selected, he will move on to be considered for the National Principal of the Year.
There is truly no one more deserving. We thank Mr. Burke for his dedication to our students, staff, and school community. Gallatin is proud to have him leading the way.

Gallatin R-V School District Announces Appointment of Three New Administrators

Derek Brady Named New Superintendent of Gallatin R-V School District
Gallatin, MO — The Gallatin R-V School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Brady as its next Superintendent. Following a comprehensive search and formal interviews conducted by the Board of Education on May 7, Brady was selected as the top candidate and has accepted the position.
Brady currently serves as Superintendent of the Osborn School District, where he has led key initiatives in school finance, instructional leadership, and community engagement. With a strong track record of fostering a positive school climate and improving student achievement, he brings a wealth of experience and vision to the Gallatin R-V School District. He will officially assume his new role on July 1, 2025, and will collaborate with the current district leadership to ensure a seamless transition.
“We are thrilled to welcome Derek Brady as our new Superintendent,” said Board President Jeff Donovan. “His experience, dedication to student success, and strong leadership qualities make him an excellent fit for Gallatin. We are excited about the positive impact he will have on our schools and community.”
Susan Allen Named New Principal of Covel D. Searcy Elementary
Gallatin, MO — The Gallatin R-V School District is excited to announce the hiring of Susan Allen, as the new Principal of Covel D. Searcy Elementary. Allen will step into the role for the 2025–2026 school year, succeeding principal Mrs. Nicole Thogmartin, and will continue building on the strong foundation of excellence already in place.
Mrs. Allen brings nearly two decades of educational experience to the role, including her current position as Elementary Principal at North Harrison R-III School District. She previously served as a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher at Gallatin R-V and has also taught in the Trenton R-IX School District.
Her leadership is marked by a commitment to evidence-based instruction, staff development, and inclusive education. She has implemented data teams, intervention supports, and professional learning on The Science of Reading and Project Access for working with autistic students. Additionally, she has been a mentor for new principals and an active participant in the Missouri Leadership Development System, graduating from the Missouri Leadership Academy in 2023.
“Susan brings not only deep experience and instructional leadership but also a positive energy that will inspire students, staff, and families alike,” said Superintendent Dr. Justin Collins. “We are confident she will honor and extend the legacy of success built by Mrs. Thogmartin and continue moving Covel D. Searcy Elementary forward.”
Mrs. Allen holds an Education Specialist degree and a Master of Education in Administration from William Woods University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Graceland University. She resides in Gilman City, Missouri.

The Gallatin R-V School Board has recently hired the Missouri School Board
Association to support the search for a new district superintendent. The
search will begin immediately and conclude with the hire of a new successful
leader. Your feedback regarding what "desired qualifications" are most
important for this position will ensure the new hire is a good fit for both the
school district and community.
Please share narrative insights below and rank personal and professional
priorities for the new superintendent. The search team will produce a general
report based on the information gathered in this survey. The report will be
shared with the board to advise them on what priorities the district and
community stakeholders are looking for in a new leader.

We will be providing our students the opportunity to gain their sports physicals for next year. This will take place on May 15th, starting at 2:00pm, in the high school commons. Cost will be $10.00 and can be paid by cash or check. Physicals are approved for 1 year and will be back dated to encompass the entire school year.

The Gallatin R‑V School District extends heartfelt gratitude to the Chillicothe R‑II School District for hosting yesterday’s state quarterfinal game. Our community members were highly impressed by the beautiful facilities and the helpfulness of the staff. We would like to give a special shout-out to Dan Wiebers, Mike Lewis, Korby Ford, Darren Smith, and the Chillicothe Band Boosters for running the concession stand and making the event accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We also appreciate Chillicothe’s custodial crew for their hard work in maintaining the facilities. We are incredibly proud of our boys basketball team and coaches for a great season! A huge thank you goes to Chad Sullenger, our athletic director; Brent Burke, high school principal; gate workers Cheryl Arnold, Brittany Burke, and Lana Corwin; Ron Spidle, our announcer; and Chris Feiden and Scott Harrold for their work at the scorers’ table and clock. The presale tickets for the Friday Quarterfinal have sold out. However, any remaining tickets will be available for purchase online starting at 12:00 PM on March 7, 2025. These tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) sets the ticketing rules, and the district has no control over this process. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
